However, she did point that it's not an ideal idea to rock a smaller baby as it could set the stage for bad habits that will affect later sleep patterns.
The Tutti Bambini CoZee
The Tutti Bambini CoZee is an award-winning crib for bed designed to ensure a peaceful night's sleep in mind. It comes with an adjustable side rail that can be easily lowered to feed your child during the night without disturbing them or causing them to get out of the bed. This is great for mothers who breastfeed! It's also light, making it easy to move around the house during naps and for travelling.
We love that it's constructed of soft fabrics with mesh sides that breathe, which aids in airflow and comfort. It comes in charcoal or oak and a range of melange fabrics that will blend with all styles of decor. Anna found it to be sturdy and secure when affixed to her bed with the legs firmly snapping into the bed and the zips secured to ensure safety for babies. It took her about 10 minutes to assemble and didn't require any tools, with clear instructions and a video or customer support number available if you have any issues.
The CoZee crib is equipped with all the features you'd expect from a crib for your bed, including the ability to attach it to your existing bed using a stay-in place connection system. It also comes with six height settings. In addition it has an incline feature that can be used to aid babies suffering from reflux or congestion. It is also machine-washable - a must for all the spills, vomit, and snot that can be found in a newborn baby!
The CoZee is an excellent choice for keeping your child close during their first six months of acquiring the ability to sleep independently. It can be used as a crib, changing station or toddler bed. With the addition of a sofa-bed extension pack, it could be converted into an crib. While it won't feed your baby or magically put them to sleep it will gently rock them until they go off!
The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of Chicco's most expensive options, but it has a wide array of features. It can be used as either a side-sleeper or a standalone crib, and is suitable for infants ranging from birth to six months. It is easy to open and close the side panel thanks to a brand new mechanism. It's also more adjustable than the previous model, with 11 different height settings and retractable legs for a secure fit underneath any bed.
Our testers were impressed with the simple access the side panel provides, which can be moved up and down at the touch of the button. This was a huge benefit during night time feeds, as it meant they could reach into and take their baby away without waking them up.
The side panel can be lowered on its own however, it's not recommended as this increases the risk of your baby falling out of the cot. However, the patented safety locking mechanism ensures that it will only stay down when attached to the parent's bed correctly. This is an excellent feature to have for peace of mind, especially in the case of breastfeeding and frequent night feeds.
The Chicco Next2Me Magic is designed to be a perfect fit for any bed that is divan-based as well as beds with drawers, thanks to the legs that can be telescopic. It features a tilting feature to help reflux babies, and a rocking function to help soothe them to sleep after eating. It's also very spacious and has excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.
Our test participants found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, however it does have quite an extensive instruction manual. It's heavier than some of the other side-sleepers, however it's quite mobile and can be moved from room room with ease. It's also able to fold into a travel bag which is a great option for those who want to transport it. The only negative our test subjects found was that the side panel didn't move as much as other models. This caused it to be a bit more difficult to see the baby from your bed.
The Shnuggle Air
If you're looking for an ideal bedside crib that can expand with your child then the Shnuggle Air is definitely worth looking into. It's a co-sleeping crib that attaches securely to your bed and can be turned into a stylish cot once your baby is old enough. It is ideal for feeding your baby at night and strengthening your bond with your new born.
Unlike some other models of bedside crib, the Shnuggle Air is built with breathability in mind. The mesh side panels with dual-view and airflow mattress that is hypoallergenic and breathable increase airflow and keep your baby comfortable and cool. A gentle incline can help to reduce colic and reflux while the zip down side makes it easy to feed or soothe your baby during the night.
The cot conversion kit is also well-designed, with clear instructions. It includes everything you need. It took us around an hour to put together and was reasonably straightforward. The only issue with the instructions was that a few images were not captioned. This made it difficult to follow. Overall, the procedure was easy and the materials used were of top quality.
